The Beijing Axis at Manufacturing Indaba 2018

JOHANNESBURG – 20 June 2018 – The Beijing Axis attended Manufacturing Indaba held on 19-20 June at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg, South Africa. Organised by Siyenza Management with the support of the Department of Trade and Industry and the Manufacturing Circle, this year’s theme is on ‘Localisation and the growth of an Advanced Manufactured Economy’.

Considered one of the leading manufacturing events in Sub-Saharan African, Manufacturing Indaba is a two-day conference and exhibition providing a platform to engage and discuss the latest global and local manufacturing trends. The event is designed specifically for private and public company representatives to hear from industry experts as they unpack challenges and find solutions for growth across the manufacturing sectors.

Kobus van der Wath, Founder and Group Managing Director of Axis Group International / The Beijing Axis, participated in the panel discussion: ‘How beneficial is the Chinese / Japanese – Africa partnership and how can African manufacturers benefit from these relationships?’. The session was moderated by Mr. Isaac Nkama of Facilitation Africa, while the other panelists included industry experts: Ms. Portia Derby, Senior Regional Director for Gauteng of Aurecon; Ms. Cheryl-Anne Smith, Contributing Analyst of Wikistrat; and, Mr. Isamu Yamaguchi, Counsellor of the Embassy of Japan in South Africa. The session took place on 20 June 2018, Wednesday.

Later that day, The Beijing Axis also hosted an ‘Exporting to China & Asia’ workshop, as a part of the overarching Manufacturing Indaba agenda, for South African manufacturers eager to sell their products and services to other markets, and grow their global footprint.
