Position 1: Consultant, Beijing Axis Strategy
Reports to: Senior Manager, Beijing Axis Strategy
Working Location: Beijing, Johannesburg, based on project locations
Job Description:
- Create and execute strategy project work plans, and revise as needed to meet client’s business needs and requirements
- Identify resources needed and assign individual responsibilities to project team
- Manage day-to-day operational aspects of a project and scope
- Review deliverables prepared by project team before client submission
- Effectively apply Beijing Axis Strategy project methodology and enforce project standards
- Identify issues and form hypotheses
- Formulate and implement recommendations and business solutions
- Lead and manage those within the team, including other consultants, researchers and analysts
- Prepare engagement reviews and quality assurance procedures
- Ensure project documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately
- Track and report team hours and expenses on a weekly basis; manage project budget
- Determine appropriate revenue recognition, ensure timely and accurate invoicing, and monitor receivables for project
Requirements:
- Excellent academic background, with a business and/or technical degree. Post-graduate qualification preferred
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in an appropriate or related field
- Proven experience in people management, strategic planning and risk management
- Attention to detail and fast-learner. Able to work under pressure
- Sound analytical and problem solving skills
- Ability to work in teams with colleagues from diverse cultures and backgrounds
- Excellent English communication skills (written and verbal)
- Chinese language proficiency required
Desired Skills & Experience
- Work experience in a start-up company, and/or China’s management consulting industry
- Strong customer relationship management ability and/or business development ability
- Successful experience in developing new clients and creating business opportunities
Position 2: Analyst, Beijing Axis Strategy
Reports to: Senior Manager, Beijing Axis Strategy
Working Location: Beijing, Johannesburg, based on project locations
Job Description:
- Perform desk research and track trends on various business areas including, but limited to, the Chinese mining and resources, industrial and engineering sectors; trade and investment relations between China and Africa, Australia, Latin America and Russia; China’s OFDI and M&A; government regulations, etc.
- Process, analyse, interpret and present relevant data in Excel, PowerPoint, Word and other relevant software for external as well as internal projects
- Cross-check data presented in project documentation ensuring that the information presented is accurate and fully reliable
- Assist in relevant business operation areas including attending business exhibitions as well as facilitating commercial missions for companies, associations and chambers of commerce
Requirements:
- Excellent academic background, with a business and/or technical degree
- Minimum 1 year experience in an appropriate or related field
- Attention to detail and fast-learner. Able to work under pressure

- Ability to work in teams with colleagues from diverse cultures and backgrounds

Position: Procurement Engineer / Procurement Specialist, Beijing Axis Procurement
Reports to: Associate Director, Senior Manager and Project Manager, Beijing Axis
Procurement
Working Location: Beijing
Job Description:
- Identify suppliers and evaluate their capability from commercial and technical points of view
- Project manage procurement schedules (i.e. ensure that specialized capital equipment is manufactured to required standards and delivered on time and within budget)
- Manage suppliers and clients through strong personal interaction and communication
- Collate and approve suppliers and contractors as well as making recommendations for each enquiry/RFQ package
- Monitor and support the expeditors and QA/QC inspectors
- Maintain good relations with clients and suppliers/contractors
- Ensure Functional Manager is kept informed of status/problems
- Produce documentation to support and satisfy Client's requirements
Requirements:
- Excellent academic background, with an engineering and/or business degree
- Minimum 3 years’ work experience in the fields of procurement or purchasing
- Exposure to mining or metallurgical industries is preferred
- Procurement (or manufacturing) project management knowledge and skills are essential
- Proficient in the use of computers and commonly-used business software (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, among others)
- Ability to organize and present facts and arguments in a persuasive and convincing manner
- Good research and analytical capability
- Ability to work in teams with colleagues from diverse cultures and backgrounds
- Excellent English and Mandarin communication skills (written and verbal)
- Willingness to travel
